FRBR: A Generalized Approach to Dublin Core Application Profiles
نویسندگان
چکیده
According to the Singapore Framework, any development of a Dublin Core Application Profile (DCAP) has to include the creation of a domain model. DC Scholarly Works Application Profile (SWAP) was the first one explicitly using Functional Requirements for Bibliographic Records (FRBR) model in creating its domain model. FRBR has recently been extended with Functional Requirements for Authority Data (FRAD) and Functional Requirements for Subject Authority Data (FRSAD) thus forming the so-called FRBR family. This paper first further develops the SWAP domain model to incorporate the FRBR family models. Then a generalized FRBRfamily-based DCAP domain model is presented to be used as the basis for specific domain application profiles.

Enhancing Interoperability of FRBR-Based Metadata
The Variations/FRBR project at Indiana University is experimenting with implementing the Functional Requirements for Bibliographic Records (FRBR) conceptual model in order to further research on next-generation library catalogs and promote the re-usability and interoperability of FRBR-based metadata. This paper describes the use of FRBR in some system implementations, discusses the first steps ...
متن کاملScherzo: A FRBR-Based Music Discovery System
The Scherzo music discovery system is one deliverable from the Variations/FRBR (V/FRBR) project at Indiana University (Riley, 2010). The objective of the V/FRBR project is to provide a real-world test of the Functional Requirements for Bibliographic Records (FRBR) model (IFLA, 1998) in the domain of music. In addition to creating a schema and FRBRization algorithm to populate a repository with ...
متن کاملUsing Dublin Core application profiles to manage diverse metadata dDevelopments
This paper discusses the use of Dublin Core application profiles at the British Library as part of a resource discovery strategy. It shows how they can be used to control the proliferation of metadata formats in digitisation activity and provide interoperability at a high level between diverse legacy systems. A technical architecture is described. This allows the use of Dublin Core based metada...
متن کاملMe4DCAP V0.1: a method for the development of Dublin Core Application Profiles
Recent studies show that there is no method to develop a Dublin Core Application Profiles (DCAP). A DCAP is a very important construct to implement interoperability, therefore it is essential to have a method to be able to develop such a construct, in order to give DCAP developers a common ground of work. This paper presents the first version of a method to develop Dublin Core Application Profi...
